Global Denitrifying Bioreactor Database (GDB)

Description

Denitrifying bioreactor (DNBR) trait data are fundamental to quantitatively find the key factors on the performance of DNBR. Although DNBR traits capture key dimensions related to changing environmental conditions, they have rarely been included in large-scale comparative studies and global models. For instance, DNBR traits remain absent from nearly all studies that study how global DNBR functions respond to various environmental conditions. Thus, to overcome conceptual and methodological roadblocks preventing a widespread integration of DNBR trait data into large-scale analyses we created the Global Denitrifying Bioreactor (GDB) Database. GDB provides ready-to-use data by combining the expertise of DNBR researchers with data mobilization and curation. Specifically, we (i) determined a set of core DNBR characteristics relevant to the description of DNBR removal performance based on an assessment by experts and published articles, (ii) maximized DNBR types coverage through data standardization, and (iii) implemented data quality checks.

So far, we have collected 10179 sets of data from 63 peer-reviewed articles. But it is still not enough. We highly encourage related researchers to contribute their published data to this GDB database. The GDB template can be downloaded below. You can join us by filling out the form with your experimental data and send it to me via email (yfan20@vols.utk.edu).
